Pondering..

Its the hardest thing in the world to ponder in your heart and not with your mouth. There are things I just can't understand and really don't know if it possible to understand. I could probably just push it aside if I were that type of person and do it with ease, but I am not that type of person.

I will say this... The most painful ache a person can have is heartache.. it is indescribable!!!

I believe some of the pain in pondering is the root of true heartache.

I am aware that I have someone to cast my cares upon because He careth for me,  so I can only assume the heart hurts to make me aware that when everyone around me doesn't care or lies to me and let's me down, that there is one that will never leave me (my greatest fear in life is to be left) nor will HE forsake me. That is absolutely incomprehensible to me.

(KJV)Hebrews 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

The Peace We're Seeking

If we but had the eyes to see
God's face in every cloud,
If we but had the ears to hear
His voice above the crowd;
If we could feel His gentle touch
In every springtime breeze
And find a haven in His arms
'Neath sheltering, leafy trees...
If we could just lift up our hearts
Like flowers to the sun
And trust His loving promise
And pray, "Thy will be done,"
We'd find the peace we're seeking,
The kind no man can give,
The peace that comes from knowing
He died so we might live!

"Without Christ"

Without Christ you are blind and lost (II Cor. 4:3,4), but the good news is, God loves you and Christ died to pay for your sins (I Cor. 15:3,4). The only question is, do you believe He died to pay for your sins, or are you still trying to pay for them in your own way, by doing good works? God says, "to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness" (Rom. 4:5). Why not "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved" (Acts 16:31).

Quietness....

Oh what I wouldn't do to be sitting on this beautiful sailboat listening to the waves.. Just being still knowing that HE IS GOD!!! We take so much for granted in this hurried life we live. I just want to stop time sometimes and listen to the quietness that comes with simplicity. I long for the simplicity of life..

Psalms 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Today will be a memory tomorrow..

I am truly thankful for my children. Sometimes I sit and silently weep because they are no longer my little babies that are completely dependent on momma for everything. I quickly realized that God knew long before I did that this time would come and I shouldn't be sad, but I should snuggle up closer to my heavenly Father. He can and should be my greatest comfort during this bittersweet time.
My heart aches with happiness over how much joy my children bring me. I have a greater understanding of the Scripture..
(KJV)3 John 1:4
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

There will come a time when I can no longer walk their walk..They will have to walk their own walk.. At this time, KNEE TIME is of utmost importance. God help me to lead them by example!!!

Enjoy your babies!!

Kitty Galore...

Baby kitties are everywhere.. Aren't they sweet?! Sure wish we could have kept them all, but unfortunately we were only able to keep the two males. We named them Oscar and Otis... Frisky indeed!! :-)

Change can be uncomfortable..

Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts.---Arnold Bennett

This quote is very true. No change that I have ever experienced was without discomfort, even when the change was for my good.

Today I made the decision to change some things in my life and to take the energy and time that I had been investing into that particular thing and use it for an even greater good in my life.

What I love more than anything is to be an encouragement to others. It is very important to me. This is what my blog will be used for in its entirety. I have learned from personal experience that encouragement is not only necessary but it is vital to our daily walk. My husband needs encouragement as do my children. Yes, even I need encouragement, but what is really funny about that is, I usually am encouraged by being an encourager. How funny is that??!!! Something as simple as a quote or a verse of Scripture does the job. Often enough just saying "I love you" or "I am thinking about you" works. Its the small things that make the greatest impact.

Please join me in this journey. I am looking for great things to come along the way. Go and be a blessing to someone today!! :-)

Peace

I woke this morning to my mind running 90 miles an hour. I am never happy when that happens because it usually causes me more stress in the day. However, on today it is serving a different purpose for me. I am calmed by the thought because the Lord has given me peace about a particular situation to which I have no control over anyway. My mind was filled with different scriptures that calm the spirit. Peace, peace, wonderful peace coming down from the Father above.

Its always a benefit to us to be still and know that HE is the LORD our GOD...

Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Apologies...

It has been forever since my last blog. I have been torn between to blog or to not blog. I have to admit my attitude has been pretty nasty. I should blog with a attitude of service. So, having said that to say I am going to continue trying to blog.

Looking forward to future blogging!

Review of "Money Secrets of the AMISH"

I chose this book because I am forever looking for tips about wise money habits and living simply. to be quite honest, I find the Amish community to be intriguing and a superb example in the time we are living. The book wasn't a disappointment for me at all! Craker's interviews with Amish families provide lots of wonderful suggestions for living frugally and illustrate the sense of community that the Amish people have. It is encouraging to read of people who are truly interested and committed to helping their families and their neighbours. Their self-sufficiency is amazing, as is their ability to use and reuse things that others would simply toss. Craker also gives examples of ways that she has applied these principles to her own life and spending habits.

Thomas Nelson Publishers provided me with a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Book Review for Booksneeze..

The Band That Played On’ by Steve Turner is the story of the eight musicians who stayed back aboard the Titanic playing till the very end on her ill fated maiden voyage. The concept that makes this book stand out is the story behind how the band members came together “and how their music served as the haunting sound track for one of modern history’s most tragic maritime disasters”.

I read this book at one go and I must say that the research work done in writing it was phenomenal. Not only are the musicians dealt with in depth, about their past and achievements but also the theories about the sinking of the Titanic are discussed and various angles explored. In addition to the writing, there are numerous photos and sketches to hold one’s attention.

This is a great book for all ages and inspires us with the hope that we can all be heroes. I certainly would recommend the reading of this book.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. I am still here, still trying to learn..

Hello, blog world. It has been quite sometime since my last posting. However, I have been researching this whole building a blog thing. I still feel like I am wandering around in the dark. I feel like I haven't gotten a good grasp on blogging. Oh well, we will keeping pushing forward and trying all the fun new things we have read.

On another note, I haven't had as much time to blog as I might have had before. I have had to go back into a different mode. My husband has taken on another job, and it requires him to be gone from home quite a bit. So, with homeschooling my babies, keeping house and doing all the wonderful things a stay at home mommy already does I am sure my time in one day is used up. Thus, we shall try a little harder to find time to blog. I am most interested in learning how to profit from blogging.

My garden is growing wonderfully. Inspite of the fact we haven't had much rain, it seems to be growing great. I can't wait until we are able to glean from it. I am not very far from tasting my first fresh strawberry of the season. YUMMY!!! I love planting my garden and watching the LORD give the increase.

Well, the weather is beautiful so we must head outdoors and play, play, play..Hope you all have a fabulous time!!

Certainly Worth Sharing....

My life is but a weaving, between my God and me,
I do not choose the colors, He worketh steadily,
Oftimes He weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride,
Forget He sees the upper, and I the underside.
Not till the loom is silent, and shuttles cease to fly,
Will God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful in the skillful Weaver's hand,
As the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.
~ANONYMOUS

"Although the threads of my life have often seemed knotted, I know, by faith, that on the other side of the embroidery there is a crown. As I have walked the world -a tramp for the Lord- I have learned a few lessons in God's great classroom...."

Freedom

I am so very thankful for the freedom I have in Christ alone!  HE is the one true source of freedom.  Many of our freedoms can be taken away and are being taken away, but the freedom we experience in HIM cannot be stripped from us as believers in Christ.

I am free to be me!!!!

I don't have to fit into anyones mold.  HE created me as a unique individual and I am free to be me no matter how others might think I am outside the "accepted" boundaries.  What a wonderful blessing..

Freedom is a very precious gift and I do not want to ever take it for granted.

John 8:36
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Galatians 5:1
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Romans 6:22
But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Priorities

What are you least satisfied with? Is it laundry, cooking, dusting? My least favorite chore or duty are the ones that do not have a lasting result.  But inspite of my feelings on this matter, these must be done.

God has priorities - recognizing our relationship with HIM - Learning about HIM - Walking with HIM daily - these are the priorities that bring order and peace in our lives.

HIS ways are so much better than our ways, and HE will bless us in our obedience to yielding, resting, walking, and submitting to HIS ways.

Isaiah 55:1-3
HO, every one that thirsteth, Come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Isaiah 55: 8, 9
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Regrets

We all tend to think things might be somewhat different if we could turn back the hands of time, but would they, really? When we know our entire lives, and the lives of our children, are in our Lords capable hands, we would do well to forget the past as we are told and to press ahead with much joy and much anticipation.

We need to be happy now, right where we are planted, even if we think our circumstances aren't ideal.

Count your blessings and be thankful. We all have room for growth and we know HE is the potter and we are the clay. Let yourselves be used for HIS honor and glory.

Philippians 3:13,14
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

DON'T QUIT

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how clse you are,
It may be near when it seems afar.
So, stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things go wrong that you mustn't quit.

Sweetness...

Oh, Mothers of young children, I bow before you in reverence. Your work is most holy. You are fashioning the destinies of immortal souls. The powers folded up in the little ones that you hushed to sleep in your bosoms last night, are powers that shall exist forever. You are preparing them for their immortal destiny and influence. Be faithful. Take up your sacred burden reverently. Be sure that your life is sweet and clean.--JR Miller

Beautiful Quotes

A true mother is one of the holiest secrets of home happiness. God sends many beautiful things to this world, many noble gifts; but no blessing is richer than that which HE bestows in a mother who has learned loves lessons well, and has realized something of the meaning of her sacred calling. ~J.R. Miller

BOOK REVIEW- BOOKSNEEZE

Venom and Song is the second book in The Berinfell Prophecies Series, coauthored by Wayne Thomas Batson and Christopher Hopper. I received a review copy from publisher Thomas Nelson as part of their BookSneeze blogger review program.

The series is a work of fantasy fiction, featuring elves, spiders, gwars, orcs and many other staples of this genre. The central characters are elven lords who had been secreted away on Earth but have since been brought back to Allyron, the Elven land. Each of these teenagers has an English name and an elven name and to honest, with the amount of characters around this gets horrendously confusing at times.

The book begins with a series of action sequences and connects the dots with backstory, shadows of future events and some attempts at character development. But I found it hard to really engage with the characters in a way that would draw me back to the story consistently.

Honestly, at around 400 pages long, the writing just isn’t compelling enough for me and I wonder how teenagers would fair, being as they are the intended audience? Frankly, this book would be nothing that I would recommend to a teenager for anything considered spiritual. I found this book hard to get through and would not even consider letting my children read this under any circumstance.
Not recommended.

The Incomparible Christ

But HE was wounded for our transgressions; HE was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon HIM; and with HIS stripes we are healed - Isaiah 53:5

HE came from the bosom of the FATHER to the bosom of a woman. HE put on humanity that we might put on divinity. HE became son of man that we might become SON of GOD.

HE was born in a supernatural way, lived in poverty, reared in obscurity. Only once crossed the boundary of the land, in childhood. HE had no wealth, nor influence, and no college education; yet the profoundest wisdom of men has never equalled HIS last discourses in John 13 to 17, and the sermon on the mount."Never man spake like this man."

HIS relatives were in conspicuous and uninfluential. In infancy HE startled a king; in boyhood HE puzzled the doctors; even at twelve years of age proving HE was far in advance of the theologians, for HE was taught of GOD; in manhood HE ruled the elements, so that HE could defy the laws of gravitation by walking on the water, and quiet the raging sea. HE healed the multitudes without medicine and made no charge for HIS services.

HE never wrote a book, yet not all the libraries of the country could hold the books that have been written about HIM. HE never wrote a song, yet HE has furnished the theme of more songs than all song writers combined. HE never founded a college, yet all the schools together cannot boast of as many students as HE has.

HE never marshaled an army, drafted a soldier, nor fired a gun, yet no leader ever made more volunteers, who have under HIS orders made rebels stack arms or surrender without a shot being fired.

Great men have come and gone, yet HE lives on. Herod could not kill HIM, satan could not seduce HIM, death could not destroy HIM, the grave could not hold HIM, and even demons obeyed HIM. HE fed the hungry multitudes with a boys little lunch, broke up funerals, and gave back life to those that were dead.

HE laid aside his purple robe for a pheasants gown. HE was rich, yet for our sakes HE became poor. As to how poor? Ask Mary, ask the wise men. HE slept in anothers manger; HE cruised the lake in anothers boat. HE rode on a borrowed beast. HE was buried in a rich mans tomb.

HE conquered death, rose on the third day as HE said HE would, ascended into heaven, is now at the right hand of the throne of GOD, and will one day come in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory for HIS own born again, blood bought ones to be forever with HIM according to promise after which HE will judge the world in righteousness, when every knee shall bow to HIM and every tongue shall confess HIM as LORD - HIS friends gladly, but HIS enemies seeking for a place to hide from HIS face. Revelations 6:15

The ever perfect one - HE is the chief among ten thousand, the only one who can satisfy the soul and give everlasting LIFE to those who have it not.

HE is altogether lovely, and HE is my SAVIOUR!!!!

Blogger Blues

Well, here goes nothing. I have no excuse as to why I have not blogged in a LONG time. Just too much going on in life to even open my laptop.  Any social updating I do, I usually do through my cell phone. I find that the more I accomplish in a day, the more that I find I need to do in a day. So, having said all that to say this, I am going to try my hand at blogging once again.

Spring is nigh unto us and I am super excited to start my planting. I have tons of herbs on my list of things to plant as well as tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, zucchini and as many other vegetables as I can put into the ground. I LOVE growing food for my family to dine on. I am going to try my hand at canning again this year. I will let you know how that goes. But, for now I must be about prepping my dirt for planting. This planting season I will be using cow manure. I have been instructed by a wise lady that this is the best method for our specific type of dirt. We have lots of sand in our dirt and have to nuture it with some good fertilizer. I look forward to planting and seeing the LORD give the increase...

A lot of things have come to pass in the Goins household. Mostly for me trying to nuture my relationship with my Savior. Making sure I have plenty of time to read the Word of God. I have made sure that I make NO time for any other reading until I have read my bible each and EVERY day.  I can only know more about my LORD if I read HIS word and pray.  I have a husband and five wonderful children that I must encourage in the Lord. Before I can ever go out into the world and be a testimony, I must be a testimony in my own home to my husband and babies.  I do love them so, and I am so thankful to God that He has blessed me so.  So, most of my time has been about my Lord and family.  Have to have my priorities in order so that I can be a blessing to others. My hearts desire is to be a help to someone else.

My family and I are also making some health changes. We are trying to eat different and take much better care of ourselves. This should be interesting as we have always enjoyed our food as a family and enjoyed going out to eat and snacking as pass times. So, now we figure out ways to enjoy our "HEALTHY" food and snacks as a family and get more active. Please pray for us as we go through physical changes in our life as well. I certainly can say, "I ain't gettin no younger!!!" LOL.. You get the picture. I am beginning to pay for the things I done during my school years. Joints are not as young either..I guess the phrase, I'm no spring chicken comes to mind!!!!

Well, I have rambled on quite a bit, but its seems I still have so much to say, so for the sake of not boring you to death I am going to close tonight. Look for more blogging soon.

By HIS grace,
Tanya
